Monday, June 26, 2023 – In observance of the one year-mark of the Dobbs decision, Rocky Mountain Values released the following statement:

“It costs an estimated $3,000 to have a baby with insurance. It costs an average of $20,000 a year to raise a child. Reproductive healthcare is an economic issue. “So it matters when Rep. Boebert misleads people by saying that having a baby is cheaper than birth control. It matters when the congressional representative for half the state of CO votes against investing in rural medical services. It matters that in places like Durango pregnant women don't have complete access to reproductive healthcare at the only birthing hospital in the county – and they don't have a congresswoman who will help fix that. “On the anniversary of the disastrous Dobbs decision, we recognize that Coloradans want the freedom to make their own decisions about their families. We are fighting for you and your family’s prosperity. And we call on Rep. Boebert to stop with her wrong-minded efforts to ban abortions even in cases of incest and rape – start addressing the challenges that Coloradans face.”

Reading that post about Coloradans’ access to reproductive healthcare reminded me of a week I was buried in stress during college juggling family responsibilities, part-time work, and a stack of online exams all lined up. In that haze, I found myself thinking online exam takers, not as a desire to skip out on learning, but as a silent cry for help when overwhelm becomes more real than resilience.
