Rocky Mountain Values Issues Statement Regarding Republicans in Congress Pushing us Toward a Government Shutdown—This Time, Over the Holidays.

Rocky Mountain Values Executive Director Justin Lamorte issued the following statement regarding Republicans in Congress once again pushing us toward a government shutdown—this time, over the holidays

"Instead of supporting a bipartisan funding deal to keep our government running, Republicans have trashed a good deal—throwing the country into chaos, putting hardworking folks’ pay checks at risk and jeopardizing critical services that millions of Americans rely on. Among them is Colorado’s own Rep. Lauren Boebert, who is more interested in political stunts than serving the hardworking people of our state.

"Why? Because Republicans want to force us to raise the debt ceiling—just so they can dole out more tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations. Rocky Mountain Values is calling on our congressional delegation to put their constituents first and fight for Coloradans—not for billionaires and chaos."

Threats of government shutdowns always put extra stress on regular people who need steady paychecks and basic services. It's sad when political fights put working families in danger, especially during the holidays. It's not surprising that some students look for shortcuts like "take my TEAS exam" when life is this crazy. But these kinds of situations really show how much we need responsible leadership.

We hope that Congress can put politics aside and focus on keeping the people who run this country safe.
