The Biden-Harris Administration today announced lower negotiated prices for 10 medications that seniors use through Medicare. This major breakthrough in standing up to big drug companies while lowering costs for Coloradans comes on the heels of a new report by Protect Our Care showing how the Inflation Reduction Act has lowered health care and prescription drug costs for tens of thousands of Coloradans.
Here is a quote from Grand Junction, Colorado retiree Marshall Martin about this news:
"As a retiree in Grand Junction, Colorado, who relies on Jardiance to manage my heart condition, I can’t express enough gratitude for the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressional Democrats for signing the Inflation Reduction Act into law. Two years ago, they made a promise to lower prescription drug costs for seniors like me, and they’re delivering. Thanks to this law, Medicare can finally negotiate lower prices on the most commonly used medications, including Jardiance. This will not only save seniors like me money, but it gives peace of mind knowing that we can afford the medications we need to stay healthy. The $35 monthly cap on insulin, free preventive vaccines, and the upcoming $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket drug costs in 2025 are real, life-changing benefits for my friends and family who are signed up for Medicare. This law is a game-changer for seniors, and I’m so thankful for the Biden-Harris Administration’s leadership in making health care more affordable for all of us."
